Technical Information

Calibration

The precision of a balance or a test weight is measured through a calibration (precise measurement) and is confirmed with a written certificate. The customer has the assurance that the correct measure in the tolerances frame is indicated.

P.J. Boner & Co. Ltd. are instrumentation and weighing specialist and have been performing calibrations on instrumentation and weighing for more than 30 years. Customers have the choice or purchasing Accredited certificates or Traceable certificates. Accredited certificates are calibrations that are performed in an ISO17025 accredited laboratory. Traceable certificates are performed in our Instrument Workshop using test equipment that is traceable to national standards (IE an Accredited Laboratory with DKD, UKAS, INAB accreditation).

Site Calibration

We have a team of Instrument Technicians that are fully trained to perform on-site calibrations at your premises using certified test equipment that is traceable to national standards.

Verification

The verification of scales is prescribed to the country of destination in areas in which consumer protection and fair competition are of special importance.

Verification can be done instead of calibration. Only scales capable of being verified through official verification allowance can be officially verified (verification possible).

The official verification of scales is required by law if they are used as follow:

In commercial trade if the price of an item is determined by weighing
In the manufacturing of pharmaceuticals and analysis in pharmaceutical and medical laboratories
For official purposes
In the production of pre-packaging

Every balance is tested by the metrological service and stamped with a verification mark. Its accuracy within the framework of permissible standard tolerances is thereby confirmed.

EU verification applies to all member states of the EU.
